Simply Elemental 2017

16. Simply Irresistible!

This installation consists of iron, copper, and aluminum formed and forged into a large carnivorous plant! Carnivorous plants are actually concentrated in the Southeastern United States with pitcher plants and sundews native to Virginia. In keeping with the theme, "Garden Variety" the artists invented a variety of plant that borrows from both the deadly beauty of a pitcher plant and the stealth of an angler fish.

Michael Collver is the STEAM education teacher at Blacksburg High School and lead mentor for the MCPS Robotics Team here in Montgomery County VA. Lauren Collver is an 8th grader at Blacksburg Middle School. She is currently involved with track and technical theatre.
